1. What does The RipFactory do?

The RipFactory converts your music CD's into a digital music library perfectly organised by artist, album and genre.  Send us your CD collection and we send you back a Digital Music Library – playable on all digital audio devices (Sonos, Apple’s iPod, Dell’s DJ, etc.) and software players (Apple iTunes, MusicMatch, Real, Windows Media Player etc).

2. What is a Digital Music Library?

A Digital Music Library is a digital version of your CD collection stored on either DVD, external hard drive or computer hard drive. Each RipFactory Digital Music Library is organised alphabetically by artist, album and song.

3. What does the service cost?

The RipFactory’s conversion service costs vary depending on the number of CD’s we convert. Please see our order page for a complete price list.  For orders larger than 500 CD's please contact us.

4. Can I share my Digital Music files?

Absolutely not!  This is against copyright law.  Please read our 'About Us' page for our policy, terms and conditions on your responsibilities. To protect you and the recording artist from theft every file we digitise is watermarked with both our company details and your details.

5. How long will it take The RipFactory to process my order?

The time it takes The RipFactory to process your order depends on the number of CD's you would like us to rip.  Normal processing time is around 1 day, depending on how many jobs are currently being run, not including shipping time. Our factory can process over 800 CD's per day. Rest assured, we will contact you as soon as we receive your order to advise you of an estimated completion time.

6. What does The RipFactory do with scratched or damaged CD's?

The RipFactory makes every effort to convert scratched, or damaged CD's and in many cases we are able to successfully convert them. Obviously there are cases when we are unable to work with damaged CD's. To improve the success of your rip job we highly recommend you clean your CD's prior to shipping them to us.

7. Do you have a minimum order quantity?

Yes, 50 CD’s is the minimum.

8. How do I send my CD's to The RipFactory?

Once we receive your order, we will contact you to confirm and arrange a time for our courier company to collect your CD collection.  It is required that your CD’s are sent to us in their original cases, and packaged into a strong box. Maximum weight p/box is 15kgs. We will send you details with your order confirmation.

9. Are the shipments insured?

Yes. The RipFactory uses Precision Freight for all shipments and insures each CD for a maximum replacement value of NZD20.00

10. Do you keep a copy of my music files?

No.  All copies are written directly in your ordered format(s) and device, no copies are held or retained by us. You hold the only copy of your collection.

We highly recommend you use our 'DVD Archive' service, in the event of the loss of your Digital Music Library. Approximately 60-80 CDs fit on each DVD (Compressed codec) and serve as backup in case your computer fails, or should you lose your iPod or MP3 Player.  The DVD can be inserted into any computer with a DVD drive.
